Training For Inner Peace- Episode 3

Updated: Sep 1
Training For Inner Peace is a 10-part video series that shares practical ways to restore inner peace in one's life. The videos provide instructional details on concepts presented in my book, The Secret Within
If you have ever thought of practicing mindfulness or meditation, this is the series for you.
In Episode 3, I introduce a practice that increases our familiarity with Presence. Everyone has heard of the importance of being in the moment, but how do we do that?
When absorbed in thought, we are never in the moment because thoughts take us to a past event or a future concern. Presence is not something we are accustomed to and requires practice to become familiar with.
Episode 3 begins with an elementary practice to prepare the viewer for deeper practices of Presence that follow.

I’m not sure if this is the same as what you are talking about. When I paint, I begin by paying attention to my surroundings. What’s light, what’s dark, what shapes do I see? No judgement or decision, just observation. I drift into noticing colors, reflections, movement. Again, simply observing without thinking deeply about it. When I pick up a brush or pencil, I feel the texture and weight of it in my hand, the texture of the support whether paper, canvas, or panel. It may seem strange, but I often smell these items and whatever medium I choose before making my first mark. Is this something close to what you are talking about or something different?
